The Arts Society, Knole was founded in 1986, as Knole DFAS to provide people in the area with the opportunity to come together socially,  with a shared curiosity for the arts, to enhance and expand their knowledge.

We currently meet in St Nicholas Church, Rectory Lane, Sevenoaks on the third Thursday of every month, except July, August & December at 1.45pm.  Sandwiches and coffee are served from 12.45 and lectures finish at 3pm after a questions and answer session.  The church has  comfortable seats, a loop hearing system and there is parking behind the church with further parking available in various carparks in Sevenoaks town.

We offer a programme of excellent illustrated lectures on a wide range of arts- related subjects given by professionals who are experts in their chosen fields and generally accredited by the Art Society.

Our members contribute to and preserve our artistic heritage through volunteering and grants. Thus In addition to the monthly lectures, we hold two study days per season in March and November as well as organising two day visits each year to local exhibitions or places of interest.  Members of the society also have the opportunity to become involved in Arts volunteering and conservation projects as part of our Heritage Volunteers group or as part of our team researching and designing Discovery Trails.

An important aspect of our volunteer programme is to support young people engaged in the arts. Currently this involves giving grants totalling approximately £500 to schools or  other organisations for young people for specific projects related to any of the arts.

All members automatically become members of the national organisation The Arts Society and receive a quarterly magazine of the Arts.

We welcome new members .  Visitors are also encouraged and can pay a fee of £5 on the day. To get more details please contact our Membership secretary.
